Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning

F&Qs

We are aware for many of you it will be the first time you have used a professional carpet cleaning company, and therefore are not sure what to expect.

Below we have put together a few of the most frequently asked questions to help. If you can't find what your looking for just give us a call and we will put your mind at ease.

Q.

Do you use harmful chemicals like other companies?

A.

Absolutely not. In fact we pride ourselves on using pet, child, and eco friendly products that are fully biodegradable. We source our solutions from a company in Cornwall who are industry leaders in modern carpet cleaning. Our products also don't contain detergents which has multiple benefits for you and your carpets.

Q.

How long does it take to dry?

A.

This is likely the most frequently asked question.

Carpets are usually dry between 1 -1.5 hours after we leave, sometimes even before we go.

Upholstery does take longer and is very dependent on the fabric, but on average between 1-4 hours.

All drying times will be shorter if there is good air flow in the room and the heating is on. The weather and the moisture in the air will also help or impede drying times slightly.

Q.

How do I pay?

A.

Q.

We work on a cash on completion basis, with a receipt being provided electronically.

We also can except, bank transfer, Apple pay, and card payment. However, only if agreed beforehand and only if payment is made the same day.

How long will it take?

A.

This is dependant on a number of factors including access, furniture, stains etc

As a rule of thumb, with two of us onsite for a couple of rooms with out major stains and easy access around the 1.5 hour mark. For a 2 seater sofa, between 1-2 hours.

5 rooms at one property may take the same amount of time as 2 rooms at another so the times given are approximate.

Q.

Do we move furniture?

A.

We ask that prior to our arrival:

- Any valuables are moved.

-Any electrical devices including tv's are removed if you would like us to clean that area.

-The floor space is a clear as reasonably possible.

We can move large items such as sofas and arm chairs with our furniture sliders. If there are tables and chairs we are happy to move these also. We cannot move any items that are exceptionally heavy i.e. a cupboard full of china.

The above is is for insurance purposes.

Q.

Do we need to stay in?

No, most of our clients let us in and then leave us to it.

A.

What do you need from us?

Q.

A.

All we need is access to electricity, a water supply, and somewhere to park.

Q.

What is your minimum booking?

A.

Our minimum booking fee is £120 in York and may be slightly higher for jobs further afield.

Q.

Can you clean wool carpet?

This is a frequently asked question. In fact, with the correct know how wool carpets are often the easiest to clean. When cleaning wool it is important to use the correct cleaning solutions. Many cleaning companies will use the same products on each job they attend due to a lack of knowledge. The problem with this is, many of the products they use will contain strong solvents and harmful chemicals with a very high PH number.

Wool is very prone to damage from products containing a high alkaline structure, so are the dyes used. All our products are wool safe certified and tests will be carried out before cleaning commences. Not only this but we will insure your carpet is left in a PH neutral condition when we leave.

The other worry with wool is it can retain 30% of its weight in moisture before even feeling damp. If left with too much moisture inside a whole number of issues can arise including, mould, foul smells, and dye fading. This brings us back to the importance of our advanced equipment and training, insuring none of the issue above come about.

Q.

Can you guarantee all stains come out?

A.

We often surprise ourselves with the stains we manage to get out of carpets. However we cannot, and no professional carpet cleaning company can ever 100% guarantee stain removal. There simply are too many factors effecting the results. To name a few:

-Age of the stain. ( We recently removed a 15 year old ink stain )

-Carpet structure.

-The cause of the stain, an example is Turmeric... this is a natural dye and unless caught very fast it will not come out.

-Pet stains. These are not usually difficult to deal with. The smell and bacteria can be removed easily enough however if discolouration has occurred this is most likely permanent damage. In some cases urine may have reached the underlay and sub flooring of your carpet... this is no longer cleaning but now a restoration job.
